Invisalign is an orthodontic appliance system used to treat mild to moderate tooth misalignment in adults and teens. This modern take on braces features a system of clear aligner trays that are worn at all times except during meals and when brushing or flossing.

How does Invisalign work?

A digital impression of your teeth is made in the office using iTero Scanner, a powerful camera, so there is no need for gooey impressions. A customized treatment plan is developed by Dr. Chiu to address the various issues. Patients receive a sequence of trays, each of which is slightly different than the one before, forcing the teeth to move slowly over time.

The Advantages of Invisalign:

  • Disceet – The aligner trays are quite inconspicuous because they are almost crystal clear so patients do not feel as self-conscious about going through orthodontic treatment at a later age.

  • Hygienic – The aligners can be removed for easier and more thorough brushing and flossing thus decreasing the chance of plaque causing damage to the teeth or gums.

  • Convenience – Invisalign fits well into busy adult schedules, as there are less frequent in-office visits for tooth adjustment. Patients are given a serial set of trays at their appointment and simply change to a new aligner tray every week or two.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

If you have crooked or crowded teeth that are embarrassing to you or otherwise preventing you from achieving optimal oral health, Invisalign could be the solution for you. The best thing to do is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Chiu who will always give you an honest assessment of your needs and options.

Will I need any post-treatment care?

Following your Invisalign treatment, you will need to wear a retainer full time for a few months to help maintain your new smile. After a few months, most patients can cut down to nighttime wear only.
