Orthodontics for Adolescents

Between the ages of 11 and 14 is the most common time to start orthodontic treatment for a good reason – by age 12, most of the adult teeth are in place so misalignment, crowding, gaps, and bad bites can easily be detected.

The amount of time it takes to straighten your teeth depends on your bite and the extent of your crowding. Most treatment takes between 18 to 24 months.

In addition to traditional braces, Invisalign® (clear aligners) may be an option for some teenage patients. Dr. Chiu will be able to give you a better idea of what is involved during your initial consultation and can answer any questions or concerns you have.
